APANESE dancehall artiste Triga Finga and Popcaan have recently wrapped up shooting the music video for their collaboration called Big Yacht.

The video was shot on location in Port Royal under the direction of Wicked Media Entertainment.

"The song is about living life to the fullest and having a good vibe when you are around your peers," he told the Jamaica Observer.

The deejay explained how the collaboration came about.

"Producer "Gacha" gave me a riddim and I recorded my part of the song in the studios. I brought it to Popcaan's attention and he liked the song and added his part. We had collaborated before and I really wanted to do it again, so I was glad when he decided to join in this track," he said.

Big Yacht was officially released in May and produced by Medz Music.

Triga Finga, whose given name is Hiroya Koshiishi, was born in Urawa-ku, Saitama in Japan. He got introduced to dancehall by his neighbour, a popular producer called Budda Daibutu.


"I wanted to break out of the Asian stereotype of thinking that a Japanese or 'Mr Chin' can't do this type of music," he said.

Triga Finga started his music career in 2005. He yearned to become an artiste after watching the likes of soundsystem Mighty Crown, and wanted to travel to Jamaica to see the performances of Capelton, Vybz Kartel and Mavado for the first time.

After releasing his debut album, he travelled to Jamaica and made a link with Aidonia and Popcaan in 2015.

"From then I performed at several stage shows with the two mentioned deejays. Under the guidance of Popcaan, I released Kickout in 2015. I later became an official member of Popcaan's Unruly gang which labelled me the 'Unruly Japanese," he said.

Currently, Triga Finga is working on a compilation album which sees production works from Gacha Music, YVP and Up to Records.
