Kosei Fukudaの「REITEN 0.004」が配信開始された。今回、デジタル配信リリースされた楽曲は、「Antidote -Devine Light-」「Lost Paradise」「Final Destination -Inside Light-」「Mental Security Pulse」となっている。
Kosei Fukuda “Antidote” EP Reiten 0.004, 2018 Antidote is the fourth and final installment in the string of four EPs that Japanese producer Kosei Fukuda conceived of as his debut techno narrative. The opening track, Antidote (Devine light) is a true remedy to a dancefloor which seems uncertain of its direction. Hard, almost punishing beat structure moves relentlessly forward, making one feel like running towards ever-receding, unattainable light. On the whole, this is indeed a darkly paranoid soundscape, taking the entire side A of the vinyl to unfold. Flipping the record doesn’t change the tempo but the more spacious groove of Lost paradise is like the interlude between the manic force of the title piece and the deep techno of the properly titled closer, Final destination (Inside light). The latter has a cavernous feel to it, suggesting a definitive departure from any playful feelings of the preceding track. By this point in the EP’s musical story, the paradise seems irredeemably lost, indeed. Tribal drums on top of the deep driving bass groove are combined with the background that is evocative of an industrial abyss, even though it is hardly deferentiated by the usual mechanical-sounding tricks. As with the previous releases, this one also comes adorned by the simple monochromatic presentation of a slick sculptural object designed by Muriel Gallardo. And again, the image corresponds enigmaticaly with the music: it’s a kind of liminal object – something between hard crystal and viscous lava, at once heavy and transformable, glimmering but impenetrable. All these qualities are detectable in the sequence of the tracks, all of which were mixed by Tobias Freund with his signature touch: fluctuating acidic harshness of the first, more transparent structure of the second, and finally the bass-heavy flow of a molten techno with all its unsparing metaphoric power. A lot of musical substance on offer. An antidote to the generic and the trivial.
