Name: Hiroki Miki Birth Date: 9/22/1973 Birth Place: Shinagawa-Ku, Tokyo, Japan Profession: Professional Wadaiko Player(Professional Japanese Drums Player)/ Grand Master and Founder of Miki Style Wadaiko/Artist and Producer of Wadaiko. ◆Brief History: Early years and becoming a professional player: Miki was born in Shinagawa Japan, where he was always surrounded by the sounds of Wadaiko from the Japanese traditional festivals nearby. He soon became interested in the amazing sound and the creative performance of Wadaiko that he started learning and playing at the age of 2.He joined the local Wadaiko performance team for kids and soon became a center player performing at local festivals and other events. After graduating middle school, he has decided to take his own path and committed to give his whole life to Wadaiko that he became a professional Wadaiko player at the age of 15. He joined the band "Ito Takio & TRYIN' TIMES" and toured through Japan and abroad for 6 years. Professional Breakthrough: At age 21, he started playing solo collaborating with Jazz, Rock, Funk, Illusion Magic, Hip Hop, Breakdance, etc., to breakthrough old traditions and rigid music boundary to reestablish Wadaiko, which at the time and still is very rare act. He has been collaborating with the various musicians, instruments, music category and producing his own music using Wadaiko. He has released several records and appeared in various TV and Radio programs . He himself produce his own Wadaiko concert and play at the center stage. He has toured abroad including Asia, Europe, Africa, Oceania, South America and his performance including Japan count up to 2,800 times. He is still active front runner playing for wide audience every year. ◆"Super Wadaiko" Performance on Stage: Hiroki Miki's performance is far beyond traditional local performing art, religious rituals.
