Atsushi Shinoda
A jazz pianist and composer, Atsushi Shinoda was born and grew up in Tokyo. He started taking piano lesson at age of 5, with his brother who was a big influence on his early life. He wasn't a serious piano learner until when he got 8th grade at junior high, where he met Jazz. Improvisation was a huge impact on him that made him turned into jazz study. He entered at Senzokugakuen College of Music in jazz performance major, where he learned basic skill and knowledge of jazz to pursue musical career. After he graduated, he decided to go to New York City to keep studying jazz deeper, and went to The New School for Jazz and Contemporary Music. While attending the school, he studied with Gerard D'Angelo, John Kamitsuka, Hal Galper, LeeAnn Ledgerwood, Michael Kanan, Kenny Werner, and Steve Kuhn. After he got BFA, he returned to his home town Tokyo to start his professional career.
