About:A Thousand Cranes This song is about a book "Sadako and the thousand cranes" which was republished by Atsuko Moriya who is the aunt of the songs composer Junko Moriya. jazz singer Kaminishi Chinami wrote lyrics for the tune with a hope that every child can sing the song with a wish for peace. The book is about the life of a girl who lived through the atomic bombing of Hiroshima and later succumbed to radiation illness. There is a statue of her in the Hiroshima memorial peace park. The land in Hiroshima was devestated by the bombing. It was said that the land wouldn't be able to support any trees or greenery at least for 75 years, but a few days after the bombing a new fresh sprout was discovered coming out. We can feel strong energy and get a sense of wonder from nature. Time has gone by and the town has transformed but the children have never changed the way they are...they are playing, laughing and dreaming of the future. If we can keep the peace, we can keep the children's dreams...that is the theme of the song. Kaminishi wrote the lyrics with the inspiration she got from a film which was taken by her relative who had immigrated to Canada, then had come back Japan for a visit 80 years ago.[A thousand cranes] is made with a wish that we have to convey the message from the ancestors to our generation and to the future generation through music.

Chinami Kaminishi, a Jazz Singer In 2007, Chinami Kaminishi made a major debut by the album recorded in New York. Her peaceful voice which softens listeners' hearts and her colorful appearance became well known all over Japan along with her songs. She performed in seven Hiroshima Peace Concerts organized by Hiroshima prefecture. The concerts were all held in huge concert halls filled with whole audience. Her recent CD, A Thousand Cranes is displayed in the Hiroshima Peace Memorial Museum. It became #3 in Amazon bestseller ranking in Japan. Kaminishi appeared on the program of NHK, Japan Broadcasting Corporation, on August 6th, the day when the atomic bomb was dropped on Hiroshima. She held school concerts which were organized by the Cultural Affairs Agency. Kaminishi also wrote columns carried in a newspaper series. The columns were entitled Rainbow Bridge, based on the movie Vancouver Asahi released in 2014, with which she was deeply connected for her Japanese Canadian relative used to play in the team. She has been acclaimed for her talent for writing as well as singing. Kaminishi was born in Hiroshima and now lives in Tokyo. She started singing at the age of seven. She devotes herself to delivering the message of Peace & Love through her music. She is originally an entrepreneur. She dedicates herself to her own projects with a remarkable creativity.
