Three of us have PD (Parkinson's disease). Parkinson's disease, PD, is different from other diseases in that it causes characteristic symptoms, like starting to shake or suddenly becoming unable to walk. These symptoms come suddenly. A person who was fine a minute ago is now petrified. I had a similar experience a few years ago when I was still not used to taking the medicine on time. This happened in a station terminal in the middle of the city. In this music video, you will find an image of Shinjuku 40-50 years ago. You will notice that the film quality has deteriorated considerably, just like the "off state" I was thrown into a few years back at the station. At that time, I was sitting on a bench, feeling helpless with my vision starting to blur. No one called out to me. Thousands of people were passing by, yet no one seemed to even notice me. On the contrary, there were some who looked at me as if I was a suspicious person. I was tempted at least to tell them that I was only having an attack of illness. But I felt as if I had turned into a ghost then. I was just a ghost in the eyes of healthy people. You will hear the word "ghost" often in this song. This is how I felt and how many of us would feel in a crowd when in a "off" state, I think. So, if you ever see someone like me somewhere, please call out to them with a smile. Please ask "Are you OK?" That's how I decided to write this song. This is to let people know better about PD. And I believe the best way is to do so by ourselves rather than leaving it to others. We are all different in the way we are and in the way we think. But I think we are capable of understanding each other and this song is my first step forward to reach that goal.
