KATAGI

Japanese Canadian rapper KATAGI a.k.a. heyshibuya was born and raised in Downtown Eastside Vancouver, an area known for poverty, drugs, and mental illness. As a high school student he was heavily influenced by punk's anti-conformity ethos and author Ayn Rand's philosophical system called Objectivism. He was a member of several bands around this time. Since moving to Tokyo, he has continued making music by combining elements of various genres including trap, emo rap, and bedroom pop.
