Akasaka is a Zen Music Artist who improvised music with beatboxing, overtone vocal sounds, and Buddhist chanting. He became a Zen Buddhist monk after traveling eight different cities in the world as a beatboxer. During his intense practice as a Zen Buddhist monk, he also had an opportunity to practice in Zen centers in the United States, including San Francisco Zen Center, known for the place where Steve Jobs used to attend. The experience of mixed culture of Japanese traditional Zen Buddhism and American organic/sustainable community, which is from counterculture in the '60s, inspired him as a Zen Music Artist. After leaving his practice period in the Zen monastery, he decided to create his music combining beatboxing and Buddhist chanting. He thought it was the best way to take away people's suffering and confer peace. In 2020, one of his YouTube videos, "Heart Sutra Live Looping Remix," went viral globally and got 3.8M views. He also challenged 108 days of live-streaming under the pandemic situation to reduce people's anxiety. (108 is a number which Buddhists believe as the number of evil passions in Buddhism.) "I was so healed." "It relieves anxiety." "I got recovered from a sleep problem." "It takes me to the state of intense meditation. " "I dance with his music and feel so free of everything." People call his music 'medicine' since they have been experiencing so many things like that. International media such as AFP, SCMP, and VICE featured his unique way of teaching dharma, and more and more people have been getting benefits from his music. Four Vows is a short sutra to vow saving sentient beings, transcending delusion, embracing dharma, and attaining Buddha's way. He made this song with beatboxing, harmonies, and MINMIN, a modern Japanese instrument tuned in 432Hz.

Yogetsu Akasaka

The first full-recorded work of 'Heart Sutra', re-arranged by voice of his own. Yogetsu Akasaka became a Zen sect monk, after The Great East Japan earthquake(2011). He performed as a Human Beatboxer at 8 foreign cities, and also performed stage play at Fukushima. After practicing asceticism for 2 years in Fukui-ken, he researched at temple in North America and San Francisco Zen Center, well known as a temple that Steve Jobs was attended. From 2018, he started music performance again at Japan, including Tokyo, his native place. By using an equipment called 'Loop Station', he established his own style of music, creating sutra by using his voice and human beatbox spontaneously, and named his live performance 'Sound-Mandala'. He attracted public attention by his performance at many events, such as 'Very Techno Buddhist Mass' at 2019 Niconico Chokaigi, J-WAVE INNOVATION WORLD FESTA 2019. 2020, he published a movie called 'Heart Sutra Beatbox Remix'. This movie was watched more than 5 billion views at Bilibili(popular video site of China), 300 million views and 10 million shares at Facebook. He also started live streaming, joining music and talk of Buddhism and performance, using his language skills. His supporter is keep increasing now, around Buddhist countries of Asia.Yogetsu Akasaka, fascinated the public by his live performance. This first full-recorded work of 'Hear Sutra', is made by his own voice. Every sounds except handpan, is played and made by his own voice, icluded beat, mandala, chorus. 'Heart Sutra', essence of Buddhism mixed with Sanskrit, is a song touching people of the world, beyond the walls of language.
