Vo. Mitsuru Matsuoka made SOPHIA in 1994 and in 1995 major debut. It released 36 singles and 21 albums. All the song lyrics of SOPHIA were written by Mitsuru. He also composed many musical pieces for the band. It performed more than 500 live concerts in all over the country including large-scale live concerts such as a concert at NIPPON UDOKAN in Tokyo(10 times, 12,000spectators each), at Showa memorial Park in Tokyo(30,000spectators), at the Expo'70 Commemorative Park in Osaka (25,000 spectators), and at Seibu Prince Dome in Saitama( twice, 15,000 spectators each) . SOPHIA's unique live performance has enthralled lots of fans. 2013 On August 12th ,It announced its suspension at the live concert in BUDOKAN. On December, a new band MICHAEL was formed by Mitsuru Matsuoka and Kazutaka Toyota,guitarist of SOPHIA. 2014 Mitsuru formed a new unit "Mitsuru Matsuoka EARNEST DRIVE with capable support member in order to release "SURPRISE DRIVE", a theme song for TVshow KAMENRIDER DRIVE. 38,000 fans got excited about Mitsuru's performance on the final day of ANIMELO SUMMER LIVE 2015 in Saitama Super Arena. 2018 Mitsuru continues live performance energetically as MICHAEL. He has appeared as a host for live TV show of Nico Nico Douga. He is the only artist who is hosting regular shows of these well-known internet TV. Mitsuru is not only an accomplished vocalist, he also is a song writer, composer, arranger, and producer.
