"Wave Biograph" is the first album by the Tokyo-based indie rock band 50 pears. While it is a compilation of 50 pears' best-known songs, it is also a concept album focusing on the transience of waves that appear and disappear, and the impermanence of the ever-changing world. In terms of sound, the album is based on a band sound reminiscent of 90's alternative indie music, but with a sophisticated soundscape that is filled with experimental noise and effects. Recording, mixing, and mastering were done by Kohsuke Nakamura, who has worked with Yuta Orisaka and Universe Nekoko and creates an extraordinary sound world while maintaining the importance of the raw band sound. All of the songs, as well as the previously released lead singles, have an emotional melody and a presence comparable to that of the lead tracks. The nine songs on this album are linked together. From the first and second songs in succession, "Wave" and "Anonymous," the album progresses without stopping, as if embodying the biography of a wave. The song "Anonymous" reminds us of the existence of people who don't speak our language, and leads into the dreamy lead singles "Intersection" and "Ripple Mark". "Solarization," which begins as a solo piece, develops noisily in the second half and leads into "Plantae," a song with a strong alternative-psychedelic feel. After interlude "Wave (Roll Back)," re-recorded "Film" has a nostalgic feel. The album ends with the long outro of the re-recorded "Absent-Minded."
