Hoping to reach children whose events and activities were affected by the coronavirus pandemic, Ikuon SongS was established in 2020 with an aim to provide smiles, music, and experiences that will last a lifetime through original song production events. In order to bring this special experience to children, Ikuon SongS launched a crowdfunding campaign in July 2022. .What is The White Hands Chorus NIPPON? https://elsistemaconnect.or.jp/white-hand-chorus-nippon/ The White Hands Chorus-born in 1995 in Venezuela, the home of "El Sistema"- is a chorus group that performs artistic activities that transcend the boundaries of disability. Children with disabilities, including those who cannot hear, those who cannot see, those who use wheelchairs, and their friends, join forces with one another to express their music. Driven by "what I can do because I am me" and "what I feel because I am me", The White Hands Chorus is composed of a hand-signing group (shuka) that sings with their hands and a voice group that sings in chorus. These white gloves worn by the shuka group dance to the music and is the reason that led to the group being called The White Hands Chorus. Children can participate free of charge regardless of their financial situation or nationality. The White Hands Chorus aims to create a society free of assumptions and discrimination by bringing together children from various backgrounds and conditions that usually may not have the chance to meet in school, and afford them an opportunity to collaborate and stage a show together. In Japan, the group began its activities as "The White Hand Chorus NIPPON" in 2020. From FY2020, the program has been co-sponsored by El Sistema Connect and Tokyo Metropolitan Foundation for History and Culture Tokyo Metropolitan Theatre. Currently, approximately 40 members, including those with hearing and visual impairments, perform at the Tokyo Metropolitan Theatre, Ryuko-in Temple of Daitokuji in Kyoto, and in Okinawa. The group is led by soprano Erika Colon as Artistic Director, Tetsuya Izaki, a legend in the theater troupe for the deaf, as well as professional musicians, actors, and performers who are active in the field. The chorus has performed in the New National Theatre Opera "Super Angels" (conducted by Kazushi Ohno and composed by Keiichiro Shibuya), with the Bach Collegium Japan, and in NHK's "Minna no Uta" program. *The White Hands Chorus NIPPON (El Sistema Connect) does not engage in any profit-making activities. Proceeds from the sales of this song will be donated to The White Hand Chorus NIPPON and child welfare facilities.
