"BLACK CLASSMATE" is a never-before-seen trio rock unit consisting of vocalist KOWNER, composer Yons, and video creator Blachemica. Rooted in the emo music of the 2000s, they blend emo, trap, and alternative rock to create music and visuals that no one has ever heard or seen before, expressing messages about their own weaknesses and emotions through lyrics that evoke deep melancholy and sadness, and melodies that are emotional and delicate. They create their own unique perspective that goes against common sense and established concepts. They call themselves "Melancholic Antipop" and continue to work. During his university days with an F rank, KOWNER met Yons in class C of the English Communication Department. They started talking about music after Yons noticed the guitar pick hanging around KOWNER,s neck. And began listening to screamo and hardcore bands like Story Of The Year, The Used, and YOUR DEMISE, and even started a cover band. When KOWNER wanted to start his own band, he posted on the band member recruitment bulletin board of the popular SNS "mixi" that he wanted to form a band like The Devil Wears Prada. Blachemica, who was a bassist at the time, contacted him, and they formed a band. Yons took a one-year hiatus from university and became uncontactable. Two years later, Yons had already left his hometown and found a job; KOWNER and Blachemica had decided to pursue a career in music and form a band again. They went to convince Yons to quit his job and started the band. In the midst of their vigorous activities, they signed a contract with a certain record company and embarked on a 47-prefecture tour, including overseas performances, with a ragged van. During the grueling tour, the band ran out of money in Kyushu, and out of spite, KOWNER and Yons started a fistfight. Concerned, the band members took them to a yakiniku restaurant and reconciled. At this time, they experienced the fear of hunger for the first time in their lives. Exhausted both mentally and physically, they successfully completed their 47-prefecture tour. After the tour, Blachemica expressed a desire to live with their lover in Tokyo while the band was in the middle of working on their next album, and decided to quit the band. KOWNER and Yons continued the band's activities without Blachemica, but they were unable to maintain the band's direction and financial stability, leading to an indefinite hiatus. Afterwards, KOWNER quit music and moved to Tokyo with their lover, but struggled to adapt to city life and society, leading to a breakup with their lover. They attempted suicide by jumping from their apartment building, but had a realization that they wanted to make music one more time before dying, and decided to leave everything behind and return to their hometown of Nishinomiya. KOWNER began composing music with their Legend acoustic guitar at home, and started producing songs with Yons using DTM, which neither of them had much experience with. Eventually, Blachemica returned to their hometown and reunited with KOWNER and Yons. Blachemica shocked after watching music videos by Lil Peep and Oliver Francis, and decided to start making visual content after listening to demos created by KOWNER and Yons in the studio. The three of them reunited and created a unique world of music and visuals, which was reborn as "Melancholic Antipop".
