The lyrics were written by Megumi Kanno, a singer from Kamaishi City, Iwate Prefecture, to the erhu song "Iwate Yakyoku" by world-renowned erhu musician, composer and erhu player Ray Wong. The song was written by Ray Wong after he visited Iwate Prefecture following the 11 Mar 2011 earthquake and mourned the Great East Japan Earthquake. Megumi Kanno, who is studying erhu, had an encounter with this wonderful song called 'Iwate Night Song' and was invited to write the lyrics and sing the song. Wishing for the recovery of my hometown.
