Yuko Mukai was born in Yokohama, Japan. Yuko's parents were music lovers, she grew up with her mother reading picture books to her from the age of zero. She began playing the piano at the age of four and a half and took piano lessons with her older sister from an early age. She graduated from Kunitachi College of Music, Department of Instrumental Music, Piano Course. She completed postgraduate studies in chamber piano at the Freiburg University of Music and Performing Arts, Freiburg, Germany Yuko passed the German National Examination for Artistic Talent "Prüfung der Künstlerischen Reife". Master of Music ("Master Musik, Hauptfach Klavierkammermusik") First prize in the piano duo category at the KONZERTEUM International Piano Competition Highest prize in the piano duo category at the "Lu Muse" Cava de Tirreni International Piano Competition Winner of the Excellence Award in the General Category at the 3rd Fusa no Kuni Children's Song Writing and Composition Contest . Yuko created the "Ohanashi Piano" series of music picture book videos with her own poetry, music, illustration, and piano. She received Special Award in the Yumekana Yell Project "Music Video Contest 2023 vol.4". The title of the music picture book video "Irunokana" which means "I wonder if she is there".Winner of the Excellence Award in the General Category at the 6th Fusa no Kuni Children's Song Writing and Composition Contest . Syukichi Mitsukuri (1895-1971) a pioneer of modern Japanese music, was her grandfather's cousin. Yuko has arranged Mitsukuri's works "Sonata for Violin and Piano Op15-1" and "Modern Poems Vol. 2" into piano pieces for four hands. Now, Yuko has been presenting music picture book videos of the" Ohanashi Piano" series with her own poems, music, pictures and piano on YouTube. Her music picture book videos are available on YouTube "Mukai Yuko channel". Yuko has also published her works in "New Children's Songs 2022" and "Zenjion Children's Songs 1" edited by All-Japan Association of The Creation of Children's Songs (published by Hanna Co. Ltd.).
