Guitarist KOUJUN's first solo album "THE FIRST AND LAST" begins with "Opening," a song that packs all kinds of techniques into about 30 seconds, and contains 21 tracks including "Bird," a song with a pleasant harmony of fingerpicking bass and melody, "Sniper" which is a full of charm with E chord, "Kokyu," a song that expresses his life itself, and so on. To express KOUJUN's guitar style, the recording process was done respecting the imperfections of the live acoustic guitar sound which are fluctuation and noise. Those 21 songs, carefully selected from more than 300 original compositions, are all indispensable for understanding KOUJUN as a guitarist. Guitar solo techniques and expressions such as cutting, fingerstyle, pick-style, melodic strumming which he has been exploring can be fully appreciated on this album. While this is a compilation album of his guitar solo, KOUJUN never stops being an explorer. "THE FIRST AND LAST" is his best artwork that allows you to relive KOUJUN's past trajectory and future challenges.

KOUJUN

Amusing the audience with one acoustic guitar creating rhythm, melody, and harmony, the music produced by guitarist KOUJUN is the one and only which may be difficult to categorize to one genre. Born in Ishigaki Island, Okinawa, KOUJUN started playing guitar at the age of 17. Then, he has been performing about 2,000 gigs at live music bars and having sessions with artists from Japan and abroad since 18, which developed his guitar style with original interpretation and zest for rhythm. Taking off from performing guitar at the age of 20, KOUJUN resumed at the age of 27, and in 2020, he composed and performed the theme song "Brave" for TV Asahi's "News Station". "Nothing is impossible to his acoustic guitar," says everyone who knows KOUJUN. As well as his basic picking styles, his advanced techniques and arrangements are sure to turn you on. KOUJUN is also able to bring those elaborate techniques, expressions, and sound down to catchy songs. Listening to KOUJUN's performances and music, you will find catchy but also some serious elements in his songs. Incorporated and balanced with opposing expressions, they can be interpreted in many ways. KOUJUN, who says he loves to explore guitar, wants listeners to value what they feel and think about his performances and songs. He has known sweet and sour through his life and that shapes his music and captures many hearts. In 2024, he released "THE FIRST AND LAST," the first guitar solo album of his career. It contains everything KOUJUN has explored his guitar solo to date. This album should be a good start to get to know KOUJUN.
