samayuzame, an up-and-coming DIY singer-songwriter from Tokyo University of the Arts, released a new song "metaphor" today, June 26. samayuzame is an artist who handles everything from songwriting and arranging to visual direction, and she fully demonstrates her talent in this song. "metaphor" is a danceable song that matches samayuzame's ennui voice with an aggressive sound. The entire song is a metaphor for "creation" (i.e., creation and childbirth), a criticism of the self that can only output through metaphor, and irony, written into a poem and sung in a chorus over four beats. The cover, with its striking visual of a smiling woman in a heart that resembles a horrifying heart, was created by illustrator Nao Utsunomiya. The music was mixed and mastered by Ryoma Nakamura.
