Mebius
Mebius Originating from Hiroshima Prefecture. A sister duo consisting of Okada Mami (left) and Okada Kae (right). Influenced by their mother, who was an enka singer, they began learning to sing at a local music school from an early age. While performing in separate units, they pursued their dream of becoming singers, but when they sang "Ellie My Love" together at a recital planned by the Actors School Hiroshima they attended at the time, it was well received, so in 2003, when Kae returned from studying abroad in New York, they formed the sister duo "Mebius". In 2007, they won the grand prize at the first Yahoo! Music Audition "WHO'S NEXT?" out of about 3,000 entries, and in 2008, they made their major debut with "Yume no Kakera" from Universal Music. They have written and sung over 30 commercials and TV theme songs, including JA Kyosai Ren Hiroshima, Ace JTB, Hiroshima Toyota, and Hiroshima Toyo Carp Kikuchi Ryosuke's entrance song "#33". In 2017, their younger sister Kae won the Rookies Cup on TV Tokyo's popular show "THE Karaoke Battle" hosted by Sakai Masaaki. In July 2018, heavy rains hit Western Japan, causing many casualties in their hometown of Kumano. Wanting to cheer up Hiroshima even a little and to ensure that this disaster is not forgotten, they recorded and released a song to support the recovery, "Fure Fure no Uta," with elementary school students in Hiroshima. A portion of the proceeds is being donated to Hiroshima Prefecture. In April of last year, the corner "Mebius's All-Out! Hometown Support Team" started on TV Shin-Hiroshima's "TSS Like!"! They travel around the prefecture, helping and singing to people who are working hard in their hometowns. They are currently acting as the image characters for the Ale Ale Shopping Mall, a commercial facility that serves as the gateway to Hiroshima. Mebius sang the song "Amazing Grace" for the promotional video for the "G7 Hiroshima Summit" held in Hiroshima in May this year. They also sang the national anthem for the fifth time at the Hiroshima vs. Rakuten game held at Mazda Stadium in June. Their singing voices are spreading from Hiroshima to the whole of Japan.
