DEEPFAKE is about robots falling in love at the end of the world. Taking inspiration from cyberpunk and the world of Blade Runner, the first release from the new Tokyo/Osaka based band DRAWSTRING, explores themes of fakeness, nihilism and blurs the lines between human and machine emotion, reflecting a nihilistic vision of love in an era dominated by artificial consciousness.

SOMBRA, a producer and songwriter with roots in Tokyo and Montreal, crafts soundscapes deeply influenced by '90s alternative grunge, industrial, underground house, techno, and trip-hop. His music is a sonic exploration of introspection and confinement, yet it bursts with diversity and transformation, striking a resonant chord in the listener's heart. BLACKUR0, a solo singer-songwriter and visionary music creator, brings her own eclectic artistry to the mix. Her compositions, characterized by unconventional structures, grandiose choral arrangements, and the evocative use of analog synthesizers, are completed by her signature blend of catchy yet hauntingly melancholic melodies. Together, SOMBRA and BLACKUR0 merge their shared affinity for distorted sound and dark, aggressive emotional expression, channeling these elements into a sonic vision of a cyberpunk dystopia. In DRAWSTRING, they transform negative emotions into powerful energy, crafting music that is both a cry for help and a call to arms in the face of the modern world.
