To celebrate the return of former Chief Conductor Pietari Inkinen to the Japan Philharmonic Orchestra, we are pleased to release the culmination of Inkinen x Japan Philharmonic, featuring soloists invited from Finland and the Japan-Finland Mixed Choir. Finnish-born Inkinen has shared many stages with the Japan Philharmonic since their first collaboration in 2008, and was appointed chief conductor in 2016. In 2023, the Japan Philharmonic will take on the challenge of performing Sibelius' epic "Kullervo" for the first time in 37 years under Inkinen, who will retire in 2023. The Japan Philharmonic Orchestra performed Kullervo for the first time in 37 years.
