Aly Inoue

Aly Inoue Born in Fukuoka, Japan and currently based in Fukuoka City. Aly began playing violin at age 5, toured Europe at age 14, began studying classical vocal at age 16, studied in Canada in 1995 and England in 1996 to improve her language skills, and performed as a classical violinist from 2000 to 2006. In 2002, she participated in a jazz workshop with Barry Harris in New York City. In 2006, she began studying jazz vocals. She studied under Aoi Yamaguchi, Shuichi Nomoto, and Naoko Mitsuki. In 2008, she began performing with Shuichi Nomoto's group. Since then, she has collaborated with numerous top artists both domestically and internationally. Domestic artists include Yoshiaki Okayasu on guitar, Yasuichiro Yamaguchi on piano, Kanji Ota, and Satoshi Takahashi, and overseas artists include Fukushi Tainaka on drums, Neil Swainson on bass, Sebastiaan Kaptein on drums, Marshall Mcdonald on saxophone, and Nabuko Kiryu on vocals. Specializing in beautiful English diction, she expresses standard numbers in a unique way with flexible singing that fully utilizes the charm of the lyrics. She is also well known for her bossa nova singing in Brazilian Portuguese. In 2013, she opened a jazz vocal school. She is a jazz vocal instructor at Asahi Culture Center Fukuoka School and Manabi-IWATAYA Jazz Vocal School.
