Rie Mitsutake

Rie Mitsutake

Rie Mitsutake is an artist based in Kanagawa, Japan. Influenced by 90s to early 2000s electronica, she began producing music and released their first album "Parade" under the name Miko on the Japanese electronic music label PLOP in 2008. Her style, which weaves catchy melodies, twisted electronic sounds, and almost humming-like vocals, created a delicate yet dreamlike musical world, gaining fans worldwide. On the second album "Chandelier," released through an Australian label Someone Good, she shifted towards a more organic sound, incorporating live instruments and field recordings. This direction earned high praise from the American media outlet Pitchfork, which described it as "new kind of folk music" and "something at once quaint and futuristic." In 2012, she formed the ambient-pop unit Oh, Yoko with American artist Will Long, who is known for ambient music, releasing two EPs and one album. Although the group is currently inactive, Oh, Yoko's music, with its unique feeling that transcends genres and styles, continues to be supported by sensitive listeners around the world. After a period of rest, she resumed music production in 2024 under her real name, Rie Mitsutake. In 2025, she released an album focused on piano and vocals titled "Across the Water Mirror".
