Instrumental band Drugstore rarely performs live. Instead, they commit themselves to an intensely disciplined routine-five-hour practice sessions, carried out with unwavering focus, dedicated solely to creating new music. Even when they do take the stage, there are no theatrics, no announcements, no setlist. Four amplifiers and audience-facing monitor speakers engulf the space in a deafening wall of sound, shaking every body in the room. Behind this onslaught, the band remains silent, making split-second decisions based on what feels right in the moment. "Ground-Zero" is a collection of songs that have naturally emerged as staples in their live performances. Drawing influences from noise, post-punk, hardcore, doom, and ambient music, the album forges a genre entirely its own. Unlike their live shows, where sheer sonic intensity dominates, this record explores a different way of presenting their soundone that captures its raw weight and immersive atmosphere in a new form.
