After gaining experience in a band, GACKT began his solo career in 1999. To date, he has released 48 CD singles and 19 albums, holding the record for the most TOP10 singles among male solo artists in history. He excels in action performances, including Japanese sword fighting, taekwondo, karate, and acrobatics. In addition, he is known for his diverse hobbies such as driving, snowboarding, horseback riding, poker, and fishing. Beyond music, he has also built a successful career as an actor, starring in Hollywood and Japanese films, as well as TV dramas. As a voice actor, he has contributed to numerous films, anime, and video games. Believing that "encouraging people" is his life's mission, he has been actively involved in surprise live performances at graduation ceremonies for 18 consecutive years and has also contributed to various charitable activities. Many of the TV programs he appears in achieve top ratings, solidifying his status as one of Japan's most influential entertainers. In September 2021, GACKT announced a hiatus from his activities. In May 2022, he announced his return. In March 2024, he embarked on the GACKT LAST SONGS 2024 feat. K tour, with performances in Tokyo, Sendai, Osaka, Aichi, and Fukuoka. Singer-songwriter K participated throughout the tour, providing vocals and piano, accompanied by a string ensemble. The special setlist featured only ballads and medium-tempo songs that are particularly popular among his fans. A nationwide online survey conducted by a research firm showed that GACKT's recognition rate among people aged 10 to 60 reached an impressive 97%. His social media presence continues to grow daily, with approximately 1.71 million followers on LINE, 1.15 million on Instagram, 1.2 million on X (Twitter), 790,000 on YouTube, and 840,000 on TikTok (as of February 2025).
