UMMO

Based in Osaka,UMMO is a rock band without lyrics. They pursue a form of expression that eliminates vocals and words, crafting a sound centered around guitars and intricately structured rhythms that speak directly to the listeners imagination. Their music is marked by a unique balance of stillness and explosive energy, featuring floating guitar textures and delicately built compositions. While drawing influence from 90s postrock and electronica, their sound also incorporates elements of rock, punk, metal, and Japanese pop, all fused through a contemporary sensibility and physical performance strength. Their live shows are characterized by a coexistence of improvisation and tension, creating a sonic portrayal of fragments of cityscapes, nature, memories, and emotions. Visuals and artwork are also positioned as essential elements, presenting a minimalist yet narrative-driven worldview. Meeting in separate bands about 20 years ago and after pursuing individual activities, they formed in 2020.
