The Seventh Planet in the Orion System. My memories of that place have drifted into the haze now. But some sensations, a few of them, still cling stubbornly to the depths of my body. Like the feeling of floating in a weightless afternoon. Or the way I used to stare, absentmindedly, at distant nebulae entwining with each other at dusk. We were half made of light and sound back then, and our conversations were more like music-subtly shimmering, blurring in and out, in tune with our emotions and thoughts. No one fought there. There was no need to. Emotions were resolved internally, and the idea of sharing came as naturally as breathing. Everything was calm. Everything was in order. And yet, that very "order"sometimes felt hollow to me-too quiet, too complete. Even wrapped in that tranquility, something felt missing. A vague, inexplicable sense of unease, like a tiny pebble in your shoe you can't quite find. -I didn't exactly choose to come to Earth. I think someone once said it's usually a choice, but in my case, it wasn't. I simply slid down with the current, like on a long slide, not knowing what waited at the end. I closed my eyes, softly, as if surrendering to sleep. It just seemed like the more interesting option. What struck me first was the weight of the body. And then, the delay-how long it took for a thought to translate into words. It felt like scooping fragments of a half-forgotten dream from the lukewarm bottom of the sea. Here, people live among other people, all bearing heavy bodies and heavy words. Everything is inconvenient, clumsy, and even time itself wears thin as it passes. But that's not necessarily a bad thing. Because with weight comes sway. And in sway, maybe, emotion is born. -In the house where I was born, there was an old upright piano. No one ever played it, but one day when I was little, I touched it, just out of curiosity. Something inside me stirred gently. The sound it made was so much like the ones I'd heard on that faraway planet. Different, yet similar. Unfamiliar, yet nostalgic. Things like that happen on this planet sometimes. One day, in a quiet corner of the conservatory hallway, I saw a friend quietly crying after a lesson. Not because anyone had hurt her. She said the music touched something-something just out of reach-and the tears came. For some reason, my chest swelled at the sight of her. The way she cried reminded me of a distant sound at twilight. Incomplete, yes-but somehow, inexplicably real. In this world, there are emotions that exist in an unfinished state. Feelings that can't be named. Hearts that seem like they'll break the instant they're touched. Maybe that's what emotion really is-something that lives inside another person, takes shape, finds a sound, and then, before you know it, begins to change you, too. That's what I thought. That something this quiet, this pure, and this utterly uncertain could still exist in this world, and be real- Maybe, just maybe, to share that with someone is more precious than floating in a perfect, weightless world without conflict. -The memories of those days when I gazed at nothing but nebulae have long since faded, but the light and sound that remained inside me still tremble, quietly, casting a real and gentle glow upon this world.
