週末を含む4日間、私はバンコクを離れ、海辺の町ホアヒンに滞在した。 土曜の早朝、日の出と同時に車でバンコクを出て、ちょうど8時、静かな海の町に辿り着いた。ホテルではなく、現在ロサンゼルスに住む、タイ人女性が所有する海辺のコンドミニアムを予約した。正確には、部屋はホアヒンの北隣、チャアムという小さな町にある。プライベートビーチと大型プールを持つ、超大型コンドミニアム群の一室で、１階の部屋は、プールに浮かぶバルコニーから、直接プールに入ることができる。そして、部屋からはプール越しに広がる砂浜が見渡せ、ビーチまで歩いて30秒もかからない。 そして、コンドミニアムのどの部屋も、裕福なタイ人もしくは外国人の、長期休暇時のバケーションハウスのようで、私が滞在した期間は、ほとんど誰もいなかった。 アーリーチェックインし、4日間の静かな時間が始まった。 初日、私は砂浜と空を眺めながら、プールで少し泳いだ後、砂浜を南に5分ほど歩いて、小さなカフェを訪れた。他に客はいない。正面に砂浜が広がる、ビーチフロントのテーブル付きソファに座り、アイスカプチーノとサンドウィッチを楽しみながら、火照った体をしばし休めた。通りには、小さめのホテルとカフェ、シーフードレストランが何件か並んでいるが、観光客はあまりいないせいか、静けさが、心を和ませてくれる。 やはりバンコクとは違う。車も人もほとんどいない。時が止まったような感覚だ。静かで、心がほどけていく。 輝く海、静かな波の音、白い砂浜、青い空、緑の木々、花の匂い、やさしい風の音・・・ 海辺の4日間の滞在中に、いくつかの風景を、ピアノのメロディーに乗せてみた。 近いうちに、また来たいと思う。
