Marking the fifth year since her debut as a singer-songwriter, this release is penpen's long-awaited first digital single. Set in the fading days of summer, caught between love and romance, this song layers the sweetness of time once shared between lovers and the sourness left behind after a breakup on to a single slice of shortcake. The title "Short Cake" carries a double meaning: the brevity of the relationship despite deepening affection, and the short-circuiting of emotions when the electric thrill of love starts to break down. It's a play on words, infused with penpen's unique emotional expression.
