YUKI KATSURAGI
Born in Takahashi City, Okayama Prefecture. She attended Kurashiki Suisho High School as a scholarship student in volleyball, and was active as a representative player in the National Athletic Meet and the Inter-High School Championships from her first year. She was also scouted by a corporate team that was considered one of the top four at the time, but she was unable to give up on her dream of becoming a singer and turned them down to pursue her own career as a singer. In 1974, she made her major debut with the award-winning song "Kiso wa Yama no Naka" at the 5th World Song Festival. In 1980, she had a hit with "Ashimi no Ocean," laying the foundation for Japanese female rock. In 1983, "Bohemian" was a huge hit and earned her a gold disc. In 1986, she became the first Japanese female rock singer to perform in China, drawing an audience of 30,000 people, and continued to perform at large-scale shows around China until 2002, garnering support. He performed under the name "Styleless Music," which was based on his policy of "singing and expressing beyond genres," and released the album "Showwa VOL.1 & VOL.2," which covered famous Japanese songs from the Showa era, along with the album "Singer VOL.1 & VOL.2," which covered Western songs, which attracted a lot of attention. In April 2021, he was diagnosed with peritoneal cancer, and in May he suspended his activities and was hospitalized to focus on treatment. After battling the disease for over a year, he passed away in June 2022.
