Single "Career feat. KIKUMARU" Liner Notes We are excited to announce the release of the single "Career feat. KIKUMARU"! ROU, a singer-songwriter and producer from Kumamoto Prefecture, is back with a new track after about a year, collaborating with a hot producer at the center of Hip Hop culture and featuring a special guest. The producer for this track is TOMi, a DJ and music producer from Okinawa, who is also known for producing the hit single "Without You" by singer-songwriter Yo-Sea. Joining ROU on this track is KIKUMARU, a former member of the hip-hop group KANDYTOWN, which unfortunately disbanded in 2023. KIKUMARU's participation brings a wonderful fusion of Hip Hop and RnB elements to the song. The track features a chill vibe that perfectly matches the nostalgic atmosphere of the sunset hours. It incorporates emotional lyrics that reflect ROU's career journey, creating a smooth sound that transcends genres. ROU Singer songwriter/producer from Kumamoto Prefecture. ROU began his full scale music career in 2018. In recent years, he has expanded his work to include artist production, while also taking charge of most aspects of his own music writing lyrics, composing, arranging, and producing. While his style is rooted in hip hop, it is characterized by an eclectic blend of J POP and R&B elements. At times, emotionally charged lyrics and riffs give his sound a rock-inspired edge. His June 2023 release ALL THE TIME is a smooth fusion of J POP with global R&B and pop sensibilities. The song was selected for numerous playlists and was chosen as a recommended track on TBS Radios CITY CHILL CLUB, steadily growing his listener base. In March 2024, ROU released the EP WITH THIS, focusing more deeply on songwriting. The work projects a dreamy, floating quality through his unique genre flows, with clear inspirations from emo rap and R&B. The balance between live instrumentation and track based production shines throughout the project. On August 10, 2024, ROU will host CriteriA, a party he fully curated and produced overseeing everything from planning and casting to CG, visuals, and video direction. The event will be held at space ODD in Daikanyama. It aims to manifest creative expression that transcends cultural boundaries, presenting music that interprets and expresses Japans unique mix of styles. Featured artists include ZIN, KIKUMARU, FUNNYSTREET, and TOMi. His upcoming album, scheduled for release this year, is being co produced with DJ/producer TOMi. The project is being refined daily as ROU pushes the limits of his own artistic expression achieving what he hadnt been able to realize before. Additionally, the upcoming single Career feat. KIKUMARU features production by DJ/producer TOMi and a guest appearance by KIKUMARU. With a light, upbeat rhythm reflecting both hip hop and R&B influences, it marks a bold new direction in ROUs sound.
