Hokkaido Ambient Music by Kenji Fujiwara Winter has arrived in my area, and I've always loved the calm beauty of winter landscapes. I created this ambient piece to capture that feeling the quiet atmosphere, the still air, and the soft warmth hidden within the cold. Digitone, Ambient0, OP-1 Field, and software instruments that have joined the journey of life, conversing softly as if exchanging unspoken words. Each sound is born gently, like a breath taking form. Every note is shaped through touch, through connection, through presence. From machines that should be cold and mechanical, a warmth of human spirit spills forth. This music is a prayer for days gone by a quiet journey linking the faint light of memory with the yet-unseen tomorrow.

"LESS IS MORE," is a statement by Ludwig Mies van der Rohe. It means 'the less, the richer' and speaks for the beauty of simple design and Minimalism, in other words, aesthetics of subtraction. Apparently Rohe conceived this statement when he was watching a Japanese garden. Keeping this Rohe's statement in mind, we have been trying to convey Japanese people's unique sense of beauty and the charm of the Kumano district to all the world through our music performances of the String Quartet. Our unique and original music, blending classical music, jazz and rock, was introduced and taught in classes at a college in New York City, adopted in a TV commercial and has attracted a great deal of attention both in Japan and international.
