Born and raised on the island of Okinawa a place where cultures and sounds naturally blend this album captures the beauty of mixing through music. MIX ROOTS reflects the artists background as a mixed-heritage individual and his life surrounded by diverse influences of REGGAE and HIPHOP. The project features LazyWii,Ganafii, Naisa, and Akilimali members of his crew "Make Sum" along with OZworld from Mr.Freedom, JUICY MAN from Okinawas reggae scene, MASH-I and EI8HT from the hip-hop scene, and Akira Something representing Tokyo. Mastering was handled by DGH Studio in Okinawa. Beyond blood, culture, or genre MIX ROOTS is about the message and energy that are born when everything comes together as one.

Bear Motes

Bear Motes is an artist from Okinawa, Japan. Crossing genres like Reggae, Hip-Hop, and Rock, he expresses his mixed roots and life journey through what he calls Mix Roots Music. Growing up within Okinawa's unique champuru culture, he has lived with the identity of being mixed embracing the contradictions, emotions, and real experiences that come with it. His sound carries those truths, raw and unfiltered. Unbound by genre, Bear Motes moves freely between words, rhythm, and melody. His aim is to raise the level of consciousness and use his abilities to make the world a better place. Through music, he shares the beauty of blending differences and finding harmony. He is a member of two creative collectives: MAKE SUM, a crew built on the concept of creating something, and Mr.Freedom.
