Zhang He - Profile Erhu Performer / Composer Contract Artist, International Music Festivals Artistic Director, Japan Tsurusho Erhu Orchestra Director, Japan Erhu Promotion Association (NPO) Judge, International Chinese Instrumental Competition Board Member, Chinese Musicians Association (Overseas) Zhang He was born in Beijing to a family of musicians and received advanced musical training from an early age. He began studying the erhu at the age of six under his father, Zhang Liansheng, the principal erhu soloist of the National Radio Ethnic Orchestra of China. At the age of ten, he performed at the Forbidden City Concert Hall, one of the most prestigious venues in China. He moved to Japan in 2003 and has since been active as a performer and educator. He has released 11 original works, available on Amazon Music and other platforms. His album reached No. 11 on the iTunes Store Japan "World" category chart, and one of his compositions has gained more than 990,000 views on YouTube. As the founder and principal instructor of his Erhu Academy, and as the music director of the Japan Tsurusho Erhu Orchestra, he is dedicated to promoting the erhu while actively developing his performance career.
