This song was composed 250 years ago in England by John Newton. John became a pastor and composed this song after miraculously surviving a storm while on a slave ship. Songs sung by the slaves during the voyage is said to have given John the inspiration to write this song. Even today, people listen to this song and get the courage to overcome tragic events. Gensblue added a section of the Irish folk song "The Water is Wide" to the intro. Intricate hymn of the Ukulele delivers a heartfelt message to all who have experienced tragic events in his or her life. It is an incredibly inspirational and courageous song!!
