The ending credits theme song for the Honda Theater production, "DISTANCE," which drew an audience of 6,812 in just one week after it premiered on June 1, 2020. "DISTANCE" is a beautiful, soulful expression of at once yearning for those we love even as we are hopeful for a future together. It is as though the song represents the conflicted feelings experienced by all the performers who have had to suspend their activities in the face of the COVID-19 pandemic. Music & Lyrics (Japanese) are written by Hisao Sasaki, the band leader of "SeanNorth," and the song is sung in English by Kaori Mukai. Kaori Mukai
Kaori MUKAI was born in Fukuoka, Japan, to parents who love music. At an early age, she began playing the electric piano and school brass band. She started vocal training with Mits Yamada in 2010 and she's been studying under Clyde W. Williams Jr. since 2014. After graduating from the university, she started working at foreign firms, at the same time singing at Jazz bar/restaurant in Tokyo. On 16 Apr 2016, she released her 1st mini cover album "Dreaming", which is available in digital platforms (Spotify, Apple Music, iTunes, Amazon Music etc.) Kaori moved to Jakarta, Indonesia, in Sep 2016 and has been actively performing as Jazz/Pops singer in both Jakarta and Tokyo; ex. participating in Japan Cultural Festival which gathered more than 43,000 people in Jakarta, performance in front of 15,000 audiences in Mosque, regular gig at 5-star hotel & restaurants, frequent performance at Motion Blue Jakarta with Indonesian & Japanese talents etc. She is the Finalist of The 5th Okazaki Jazz Vocal Contest, Japan.
