It is with great pleasure that I recorded with Akimi Fukuhara a few pieces close to my heart. The violin I play on this short CD was made by Yu Iida. Having played all my life on the same and most beautiful violin made by Antonio Stradivari, I have been always fascinated to feel and see that behind all the technique required to make such a complex instrument as the violin, the personality, the sensitivity of the person who made the instrument is the real soul of the sounds this instrument will produce. Yu Iida being one of the most extraordinary and fascinating person I have met in my life, it was for me an honor and a privilege to make his wonderful mind and soul sing for ever through his great instrument. Pierre Amoyal & Akimi Fukuhara
Pierre Amoyal is well known to music lovers. When He was only twelve years old, he completed his studies at the Paris Conservatory with a First Prize. The prodigy then left for Los Angeles to study with the legendary Jascha Heifetz. The two spent five intense years together, culminating in chamber music concerts and recordings with cellist Gregor Piatigorski.
He was the youngest musician ever to be nominated as a professor at the Paris Conservatory. Following his move to Switzerland, he took up a teaching post at the Lausanne Conservatory and now teaching at the Mozarteum University in Salzburg. He is a very touching example of a virtuoso whose exceptional talents neither diminished his love of hard work, nor development of the most essential human qualities.
