Beautiful ambient-folk music which colours the world. On 20th March, we'll release the third album from 'Make Like a Tree', a music and photography project produced by Sergey Onischenko, the vagabond from Ukraine who is touring around the world, spreading his indie-folk tunes with a touch of non-conformism and Beat Generation ideas whilst exhibiting his minimalistic landscape photography taken in omnifarious places during his journeys. For this album, various artists who met Sergey and sometimes shared stages with him in Japan, Kenya, Tanzania, Russia, Ukraine, Austria, Italy, Norway, Catalonia, and Armenia, appear as guest players with their own instruments such as piano, violin, trumpet, hurdy gurdy, and synthesizer. Also, Sergey's often effected compositions add an ambient beauty to his natural folk songs. This sound, with no regard for national borders invites the listener to feel the magnificent world where you have never seen. The album has been self recorded in a portable home studios in the suburbs of Tokyo, Japan and on beautiful island of Zanzibar, then polished by the ocean breeze and heavy sunlight of Tanzania. The mastering was done by Thomas Meidell in Metropolis Studios in Oslo, Norway and the artwork was completed by Japanese painter, Youji Otsuki. We, Ricco Label, will co-release this album with This and That Tapes in US, Dreaming Gorilla Records in Italy, Floppy Dischi in Italy, and Entes Anomicos in Germany. This album unites many nations and makes borders vanish through the power of music.

Make Like a Tree
Make Like a Tree is a quintessention of travels expressed in music and photography created by Sergey Onischenko - vagabond from Ukraine who is touring a round the world and spreading his indie-folk tunes with a touch of non-conformism and Beat Generation ideas and exhibiting his minimalistic landscape photography taken in omnifarious places during his journeys. Each concert is played with new members and all songs are created and recorded in different parts of the world. Experiments with sounds and collaborations with audience can turn one-man-band in a duo or in quite a large improvising ensemble. 'Mothernight' is a third album created by Make Like a Tree. It's a 10 track indie-ambient folk album that is a quintessention of 3 year world journey around the world. Every song is a collaboration with a new artist who Sergey has met and involved into Make Like a Tree project during his wanderings around Japan, Kenya, Tanzania, Russia, Ukraine, Austria, Italy, Norway, Catalonia, Armenia. The name of the album is inspired by the eponymous novel of Kurt Vonnegut that describes a perfect example of "citizen of nowhere". The name refers to the idea that modern society is lost in the middle of the night without any directions to the place where we came from. Night scrapps all the shells and ripping off masks that accrue to our faces makes us look more real . "We are what we pretend to be, so we must be careful about what we pretend to be."
