Diese CD ist mein Masterarbeit an der Folkwang Universität der Künste. Mein Masterstudiengang begann mit der Corona-Pandemie. Diese Zeit, in der ich lernte, mich durch das Leben zu kämpfen, ohne aufzugeben und zu entscheiden, was ich in jeder Situation tun will, war so wertvoll, dass ich später dankbar darauf zurückblicken werde. Ich beschloss, eine CD aufzunehmen, um irgendwann diese Momente in meinen Händen halten zu können. Die Stücke, die ich für dieses Programm ausgewählt habe, wurden von Komponisten aus Europa und Amerika geschrieben, die seit der Spätromantik Repertoire für die Klarinettenwelt erschaffen haben, das unverzichtbar geworden ist. Für mich war es wichtig, dass die Werke farbenreich sind und der Klang der Klarinette das Publikum verzaubert. Für mich geht es in der Musik darum, Gefühle, Zeit und Energie mit den Menschen zu teilen. Ich würde mich sehr freuen, wenn wir diese Dinge durch diese CD gemeinsam fühlen. Ich möchte dem Tonmeister Arthur Jogerst, der Pianistin Frau Sae Katayama, der Korrektorin Carolin Schwaderlapp und Prof. Nicola Jürgensen meinen aufrichtigen Dank aussprechen, da sie viel Zeit und Mühe in die Erstellung dieser CD investiert haben.

Mayuko Shimakawa
Clarinetist Mayuko Shimakawa was born in 1993 in Fukui, Japan and began playing the clarinet at the age of 12. From 2012 to 2014, she studied with Yuko Suzuki at the Osaka Junior College of Music. At her first recital in Japan in 2018, she premiered a commissioned work composed especially for her and achieved great success. She graduated in 2020 with a bachelor's degree from the University of Music in Karlsruhe, Germany, studying with Sebastian Manz, Prof. Georg Arzberger, and Prof. Julius Kircher. Since 2020 she has been studying in the master's program "Professional Performance" at the Folkwang University of the Arts with Prof. Nicola Jürgensen. During her studies she already played in numerous orchestras as a substitute, such as the Stuttgart Chamber Orchestra, the Philharmonic Chamber Orchestra Wernigerode and various project orchestras. She earned several prizes at solo and chamber music competitions.
